ROBERT PONTO - Assistant Vice President

Mr. Ponto graduated from Rutgers University in New Jersey and began his insurance career in 1969 when he was hired as a Management/Underwriting trainee for State Farm Insurance. In 1976, after becoming a Senior Underwriter in their regional office, Mr. Ponto moved to Los Angeles and started underwriting and reinsuring commercial accounts for some E & S carriers. With several promotional transfers taking him to Greenwich, Connecticut and San Francisco, he returned to Los Angeles in 1982 as a Branch Manager for an A+:XV carrier. In addition to State Farm Insurance, Mr. Ponto has worked for the Mission Group, Harbor Insurance Company, American International Group, and First State Insurance Company. In 1985 Mr. Ponto moved over to the wholesale brokerage side of the business developing a strong book of business in General Liability, Property, Umbrella, and Professional Liability. During this time he also acquired his designation as an Associate In Risk Management (ARM). After spending 14 years with two other surplus line brokers, he joined Lemac & Associates in early 1999. Along the way, Mr. Ponto has spent many hours working with claims adjusters, attorney's (both defense and plaintiff), risk assessment professionals, and has also served as an expert witness on several occasions which included some courtroom experience.
